MEMORIAL ART SHOW for 6 percussionists (2005) I. filtering #2 II. harmonic domains III. heterophonic #2 Filtering #2 is born as electronic notes, to translate and transcribe for acoustic instruments. For that reason I've used instruments/objects which produce white noises of different amplitudes: pot lids, iron containers, newspapers, spoons, air compressors, funnels, and so on. Afterwards I've transcribed it for large orchestra, because of its wide sound, and so Filtering #2 has become the first movement of my piece for orchestra "Triptych". Inside it, the first white noises consist in a free elaboration of two Pansonic sounds, as explicit tribute to their "noisy" literature. Harmonic domains develops some harmonic fields, forcing the instrumentalists to play with a frantic virtuosity. Heterophony is here to be understood as the contemporary presence of distinct languages and syntaxes, which generate complex relations and represent multiplicity. So Heterophonic #2 produces a superimposition and rotation of 3 different languages and techniques: electronic sounds and forms, concrete sounds, and a spectral's orchestration technique. Memorial Art Show is dedicated to Fausto Romitelli and to his bold musical imagination.
