Filtering #2 is born as electronic notes, to translate and transcribe for acoustic instruments.
And Filtering #2 is also music for objects (as my series of movements which title is Musikplastik).
I was struck by the First World’s present-day over-production of materials and objects, by the excess of well-being which deprives every single product and artifact of its meaning. I asked myself how I could restore dignity to materials.
I've created Filtering #2 by listening to the sounds of many objects, to the sound of their electronic transformation, and studying the details of their spectrum.
So I've used instruments/objects which produce white noises of different amplitudes: pot lids, iron containers, newspapers, spoons, air compressors, funnels, and so on.
Harmonic domains develops some harmonic fields, forcing the instrumentalists to play with a frantic virtuosity.
Heterophony is here to be understood as the contemporary presence of distinct languages and syntaxes, which generate complex relations and represent multiplicity.
So Heterophonic #2 produces a superimposition and rotation of 3 different languages and techniques: electronic sounds and forms, concrete sounds, and a spectral's orchestration technique.
Memorial art show, commissioned by the French Ministry of Culture, was written for Les Percussions de Strasbourg.
